Teresa Schroeder
Being born and raised in Oklahoma, Teresa has held the love of the country close to her heart, both in her art and in her way of life. Many people have told her they can tell she grew up in the country by the feel of her art work.
Teresa began her art career while in high school. Her art teacher encouraged her to enter many art shows and competitions. This brought her many awards including a college art scholarship. While 17 and in high school she was hired by an art studio to teach classes to thirty plus students.
She majored in Art at the University of Central Oklahoma and paid her way through college working at the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center, and through commission work. During her senior year she began working in commercial art and design which led to magazine publication.
In 1999 Teresa moved to Colorado where she spent eight years. Becoming involved in the Art Students League of Denver and meeting fellow artists gave her a solid connection with the art community there. She had to opportunity to study at the Art Student League of Denver for the past seven years. She returned to Oklahoma in 2007, and lives in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
Teresa has studied with Kim English, Mark Dailey, and Robert Spooner; plus, through workshops with Jerry Yarnell (noted PBS artist), Evelyn Martinez, and Bruce Gomez. She is a member of Oil Painters of America.
Her work was selected for inclusion in the 2006 "International Salon" Sponsored by the Museum of Contempory Masters of Fine Art and again this year in the 2007 "International Salon". Teresa's work has been shown in various galleries including RL Foster Gallery, Denver; Evergreen Art Center, Evergreen CO.; KD Moore Gallery, Evergreen CO.; Framed Image, Denver, and exhibits in invitational shows. Her work is in private and public collections.
